If any of you have ever been interested in coming to see me do a kit home presentation, now’s your chance! I am doing my first presentation at the Grand Blanc Heritage Museum in Grand Blanc, MI (my hometown), and cordially invite you all (the readership) to join. Here is the media blurb from the director of the museum about the program:
“The Grand Blanc Heritage Association will present a public program Monday, March 27 at the Heritage Museum, 203 E. Grand Blanc Road in the City Hall complex. GBHS student and Eagle Scout Nigel Tate will give a program on “Kit” Homes in the Grand Blanc area and nearby. For much of the early 20th century, complete homes could be purchased in kit form, from catalogs by Sears Roebuck, Montgomery Ward, and many others. Many of these still remain as occupied homes. Nigel has done extensive work locating, identifying, and documenting these homes as a personal project.”
The program will begin at 7PM, with doors opening at 6:30. Light refreshments will be served. For more information, call the Museum at 694-7274 during regular hours (Wednesdays 10-2), or the Director at 695-8045.
